Please help us bring our dreams to fruition!
St. Joseph's Day Appeal 2016
Today we are asking you to recall the four recorded times when St. Joseph, Our Community Patron, had a dream. The four specific episodes in the New Testament are as follows:
First dream: In Matthew 1:20-21, Joseph is told not to be afraid to take Mary as his wife, because she was conceived by the Holy Spirit. (See also the Annunciation, in which an angel informs Mary with a similar message.)
Second dream: In Matthew 2:13, Joseph is warned to leave Bethlehem and flee to Egypt.
Third dream: In Matthew 2:19-20, while in Egypt, Joseph is told that it is safe to go back to Israel.
Fourth dream: In Matthew 2:22, because he had been warned in a dream, he departed for the region of Galilee.
Because Joseph followed his dreams the world was changed.
The Sisters of St. Joseph have additional dreams. For two, in particular, we are asking for your help.
One that is always with us is that we will be able to continue the loving care for the health and well-being of our retired members. As you may know, about half of the CSJs in the province are retired and reside at the Provincial House. The cost of everything has risen and especially the cost of health care. Any help you can give us to cover the expenses of retired members will be greatly appreciated. Donations to this area of support should be made to the Gurry Trust Fund.
You are well aware of the rise of crime and violence in our country and neighborhoods. There has also been a cut back of funds in schools to provide for and introduce children to the world of beauty, particularly in the area of music education and art. This cut back is particularly true of school districts in poor areas as the school budgets are mostly funded through property taxes. It is one of our dreams to be able to offer scholarships to children, especially to the children of the inner city, to our CSJ Community sponsored Carondelet Music Center. Donations to this area of support should be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph Ministry Fund.
If you are able, please help our dreams come to fruition. Thank you for your love and support. Together we can bring love and goodness to our world.
“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks with compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.” (St. Teresa of Avila)
Thank you. Blessings!
