Praying Lent 2010: Ash Wednesday through Easter Sunday

During the holy season of Lent, God offers us a very special opportunity to grow in our relationship with God and with one another. In the "busy-ness" of our everyday life, these 40 days give us a chance to pray more deeply, experience repentance for the good we have failed to do and to be generous to those in need.

To assist all of us in our preparations for the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus, we offer for your daily reflection the resources prepared by the Jesuits in the Collaborative Ministries of Creighton University. The reflection series include a simple daily prayer for each day of Lent and the Easter Triduum.

For your meditation each day there is also a link to the Scripture readings of the day and a brief reflection. Each daily prayer concludes with a spontaneous prayer composed by contributors in the Collaborative Ministries as an example of the type of prayer we might pray in our own words. There are also additional suggestions of books to read and resources for parish use.

We are very grateful to the Jesuits and the Collaborative Ministries of Creighton University. Be assured of our prayer as we journey together during this sacred time of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, our Redeemer.

Help God's Creation During Lent: A Carbon Fast Calendar
Try A Carbon Fast! Why not try something different for Lent this year? The Environmental Outreach Committee of the Archdiocese of Washington has developed a Calendar for a Lenten Carbon Fast. Its purpose is to remind us to be conscious of our environment by considering all the ways we waste our resources in the activities of our daily life. Click below for this printable calendar.
