Sister Joseph A. Dunham, CSJ
Sister Joseph Andrew Dunham, 84, a sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet for 63 years, died July 29, 2006, at St Joseph's Provincial House in Latham.
Sister Joseph Andrew was born in Eagle Mills, NY, daughter of George and Josephine Fitzgerald Dunham. After graduating from Catholic Central High School, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1942 and made her final vows in 1948. Sister Joseph earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from The College of St. Rose and pursued additional studies there and at SUNY Albany. Sister did childcare ministry at St. Joseph's Infant Home in Troy and taught elementary grades in both the Syracuse and Albany Dioceses.
Sister Joseph Andrew had a 29-year association with Sacred Heart-St. Columba's Parish in Schenectady as a teacher until the closing of St. Columba's School, then as a parish minister. Following her years of dedicated and loving service, Sister Joseph Andrew retired to St. Joseph's Provincial House in 2002.
Sister Joseph Andrew is survived by her sister, Mrs. Robert Blake; several nieces and nephews; Sister Rosemary Endres, and her other beloved Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.
Sister Joseph Andrew's Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, August 3, 2006, in the chapel of St. Joseph's Provincial House. Interment was in Our Lady Queen of Virgins Cemetery on the Provincial House grounds.
