CSJ Associate Commitment Weekend 2013

Jane Domingue of Utica is honored for 25 years as a CSJ Associate.

Mary Guditis of Binghamton makes her first commitment as a CSJ Associate.

On June 9, 2013, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and CSJ Associates welcomed three new associates during a Eucharistic Liturgy in the chapel of St. Joseph’s Provincial House, Latham, NY.  The Commitment Liturgy followed a day in which Sisters and CSJ Associates explored the CSJ Agrégée Program at a morning presented by Sisters of St. Joseph and Agrégées from Springfield, MA. In the afternoon, the associates reflected on Vatican II in a presentation by Sister Lois Barton, CSJ.

Mary Guditis from Binghamton and Cindy Hoosock and Mardee Schaefer, both from Syracuse, made their first commitment as CSJ Associates. Also, during the Liturgy, over 100 CSJ Associates renewed their commitment for another year after spending the weekend on retreat at the Provincial House.

With Rev. Geoff Burke as presider and CSJ Associate Kathleen Young giving the reflections, the associates joined in celebration with a chapel filled to overflowing with CSJ Associates, Sisters of St. Joseph, family and friends. During the Eucharistic Liturgy, the Sisters of St. Joseph expressed their support and gratitude to these men and women who live and work as the Sisters do in uniting all persons and all creation with God and with one another in God.

The new CSJ Associates promised to live according to the ideals and values of the Sisters of St. Joseph, to bring those values to their home and workplace and to join with the Sisters in transforming the world, according to the Gospel and with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

The CSJ Associates are men and women who embrace the charism of unity and reconciliation and participate in the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. The CSJ Associate community lives out this call of the Spirit in their daily lives.
