Advent 2012 Reflections

During the holy season of Advent God offers us a very special opportunity to grow in our relationship with God and with one another. In the “busy-ness” of our everyday life, these Advent days give us a chance to pray more deeply, experience repentance for the good we have failed to do and to be generous to those in need.

To assist all of us in our preparations for the celebration of the Birth of Jesus, we offer for your daily reflection the resources prepared by the Jesuits in the Collaborative Ministries of Creighton University. The reflection series include a simple daily prayer for each day of Advent and the Christmas Season.

For your meditation each day, there is also a link to the Scripture readings of the day and a brief reflection. Each daily prayer concludes with a spontaneous prayer composed by contributors in the Collaborative Ministries as an example of the type of prayer we might pray in our own words. There are also additional suggestions of books to read and resources for parish use.

We are very grateful to the Jesuits and the Collaborative Ministries of Creighton University. Be assured of our prayer as we journey together during this sacred time in preparation for the coming of Jesus, our Savior.

As you click on each day below, know that we wish you a blessed Advent, and we assure you of prayer that this season will be a special time of joy, hope and peace for you and those you love.
