A World in Need (Links)
As Sisters of St. Joseph, we are called by our founders "to respond to the needs of the times" and to work toward "right relationships" with God, the neighbor, one another, the Church and the Earth. We recognize God's creation as a gift to ALL living beings, and we work in collaboration with other religious congregations and national and international organizations to be responsible and loving caretakers of the Earth. Co-Op America empowers individuals to make purchasing and investing choices that promote social justice and environmental sustainability; demands an end to corporate irresponsibility through collective economic action; promotes green and fair-trade business principles while building the market for businesses adhering to these principles; and builds sustainable communities in the US and abroad.

Sierra Club
Sierra Club explores, enjoys and protects the wild places of the Earth; practices and promotes the responsible use of the Earth’s ecosystems and resources; and educates and enlists humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment. Blogs are available in several areas.

The Wilderness Society
Since 1935, the Wilderness Society has described as its calling and passion: “to protect America’s wilderness, not as a relic of our nation’s past, but as a thriving ecological community that is central to life itself.”

The Natural Resources Defense Council works to protect wildlife and wild places and to ensure a healthy environment for all life on earth.

Friends of Earth
For the past 39 years, Friends of the Earth have fought daily for a healthy and just world. Its members have raised the alarm and drawn attention to new environmental problems; stopped over 150 destructive dams and water projects worldwide; banned international whaling; pressed and won landmark regulations of strip mines and oil tankers; reformed the World Bank to address environmental and human rights concerns; and eliminated billions in taxpayer subsidies to corporate polluters.

The work of Thomas Berry is central to this organization that is dedicated to the prinicpal that we live in a meaningful, continuously evolving Universe.

Brian Swimme
Brian Swimme is a mathematical cosmologist on the graduate faculty of the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. His primary field of research is the nature of the evolutionary dynamics of the Universe. In 1989, he founded the Center for the Story of the Universe.

Spiritearth
Spiritearth is a center and a network of people whose focus is contemplation, reflection and justice making in the ecozoic era.

Union of Concerned Scientists
The Union of Concerned Scientists is the leading science-based, nonprofit organization, working for a healthy environment and a safer world. UCS combines independent scientific research and citizen action to develop innovative, practical solutions and to secure responsible changes in government policy, corporate practices and consumer choices.
